"Universal Pre-School" is the Government's Plan...

In his State of the Union address, President "Screwtape" Obama said he wanted to “make high-quality preschool available to every child in America” and “make sure none of our children start the race of life already behind.”

The public education system, along with institutes of "higher learning", has been co-opted by the radical left. This is not anything new, inasmuch as the teachers of today were taught by yesterday's left-wingers (or those teacher's who taught the teachers of yesterday's left wingers). I believe it began in the late 1960's - when the so-called "anti-establishment drug and free-love" sub-culture of the 1960's (or at least those who weren't too stoned to pass their finals) were awarded their teaching certificates. Most of these left-wing liberal-"progressives" went directly to teaching in the public system, many at the K-6 level, and some at the 7-12 level. What's wrong with that?

The public "educational system" has been replaced with the Federal Indoctrination System, replete with  revisionist history (history retold the way the left wishes it had been), political correctness, studies of aberrant sexual behaviors now deemed "normal" by the government, marginalization of Christianity, and other left-wing absurdities. To effectively indoctrinate a body of people, you must begin the process of indoctrination as early in their lives as possible. In "teaching" children in grades K-6, the process is simplest. The political minds of children ages 5-11 are essentially "dry sponges" ready to absorb any liquid in which they are immersed. Whether it be the purest of spring waters, or the liquid waste from the sewers of political belief. "Common Core" education, being forced upon us by the federal government, is the most blatant transference of liquid waste to date.

The goal of Common Core education is absolute and total  indoctrination of the youth of America into the belief that all people should achieve the same rewards for their labors - regardless of education, experience, competence, employment status, or difficulty and/or hazards involved in the performance of those labors. Quite simply put, those slackers who elect to do nothing, should be able to have the same standard of living as those who work 40-80 hours per week. That is the socialist mindset that currently governs and indoctrinates the children of our Republic.

The federal government is not the solution to any educational/social problem - it is source of the problem. "Project Head Start" has been in existence for 50+ years, at the cost of trillions of tax dollars, yet the accomplishments of those who have had access to the program, are no better than those who did not have access. Wasteful effort? Obviously.

Education should be controlled at the state level, not the federal level. State boards of education should determine the content and conduct of the learning process for our children. Our educational emphasis should be on the 3R's, not on "Heather Has Two Mommies" - history, not homosexuality, math not Muslims, and science not (left-wing icon) Sol Alinsky.

Our founders gave us a Constitution designed to benefit those who made the effort to become self-sufficient through apprenticeship (training), self-motivation, and hard work. Our Constitution also was designed to limit areas of our daily lives in which the federal government could involve itself, and - regarding those areas where involvement was permitted - it places further restrictions upon how deeply the government may involve itself. Our founders saw the potential for abuse of power by any governing body, and took steps to minimize the possibility that the federal government could someday seize all power from the people. They insured, through our Constitution that necessary means of recourse would always be available to the citizens, in the body of the Second Amendment - which contains the phrase "shall not be infringed".

Sadly, the Constitution is only as good as the people's will to protect and defend it - and there is some question over whether We the People yet possess that will. The administration "end-runs" the Constitution at every opportunity, circumventing it's original intent, ignoring the requirements of government therein, and constantly chipping away at the people's Bill of Rights. The circumstances under which such flagrant violations of the Constitution will end is not yet clear. The "checks and balances" are not working as they were designed  - Congress rubber stamps the malfeasance (bordering upon treason) of the administration, and the Federal Court system only fails to support their inaction when a blind man can see the criminality.

An "Oath of Office" is only an oath when it is sworn to by people of honor. There is little-if-any honor in the Federal District of Columbia, so that part of the "Oath of Office" where they swore to "protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic..."

The "Ship of State" is Crewed by FOOLS!

Those "running the country" are not stupid, but they are very foolish. They foolishly follow a political belief system that has proven, time and time again, to be unsustainable over the long haul . Their support comes from both the foolish and the stupid among us. The single issue voter, the "What's in it for me" people, the uneducated, the uninformed and the unconcerned.

We the People are being led down the proverbial "Garden Path" by the current administration, whose hope is that we will be distracted from the quicksand by all the pretty flowers. We are irrecoverably mired in international debt, and yet we continue to borrow more! The government continues to print currency with nothing behind it, devaluing the few dollars that the average working person manages to retain after taxes. Nationally, we have the highest unemployment since the Great Depression, and more jobs are being lost daily to foreign countries and foreign nationals here on work visas. Yet the voracious appetite of our Behemoth federal government grows, demanding more taxes to support it's weight. The elected "leader" of our government lives the lavish lifestyle of a Potentate... while simultaneously demanding that We the People "tighten our belts". And, exactly where are those 1.6 billion rounds of hollow point ammunition for which DHS has contracted (ammunition that is prohibited by International Law from use in "war" - going to be used? Is our government so afraid of We the People, that they must have a supply of ammunition sufficient to kill every living American almost 6 times over? A supply great enough to fight a sustained war for more than 20 years. A government that serves the will of the people has no reason to fear them. What we are observing is the gradual erosion - and intentional usurpation - of our Constitution, and with it our God-given rights.

The "Ship of State" is captained and crewed by fools who desire to rule their subjects, rather than appropriately govern the citizens. How did this happen? We have an over-abundance of fools who are of legal voting age, who refuse to recognize the political, economic and social "reefs" that lie ahead in the Sea of Socialism! The ruling class in Washington D.C., is composed of anti-Americans, and a Congress that lacks the moral courage to challenge them.

I hope those who supported this desecration of our country and ourConstitution by their ballots are proud of themselves. "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall." The "destruction" and "fall" are visible on the horizon, for those who care to look.

WARS AND RUMORS OF WARS - American Revolution Part II, and the10th Crusade

The world would be a wonderful place to live, if there weren't people in it to screw things up! As of March 1, 2013 there were 60 countries at war, and 391 "armed conflicts" underway within those countries.

We find ourselves in a chaotic world, although for the most-part peace currently reigns at home. Yet, to many, it seems as if we may be on the brink of Part II of the American Revolution. We have an administration composed entirely of left-wingers, Marxists, Socialist-"progressives", and other varieties of Communists. We also have high unemployment, a devalued currency, ever-increasing taxation, outrageous international indebtedness, circumvention - by our government - of our Constitution, the use of military drones within the borders of the USA, lax border control, the abridgement of the Bill of Rights, Amendments I, IV, VIII and X, and a push to infringe upon Amendment II, which our founders specifically prohibited. Why is the administration pushing the envelope of what We the People will quietly tolerate? First because our elected Congress lacks the courage to say "ENOUGH!". They will not unite for the good of the country and say no to the spoiled, "my way or no way" attitude of our President, Barry the Bankrupter.
There are a few of us who are actually paying attention, and connecting the dots. Individually, the actions of our government may appear innocuous... but, when looked upon individually as the pieces of a much larger puzzle, a highly disturbing picture develops.
The motto of the left-wing is not only, "Never let a crisis go to waste", it includes the adjunct phrase, "If there is no crisis create one you can solve" (exercising direction by misdirection and  smoke and mirrors leadership). Eventually, the American people will become unsettled over this incompetence at all levels of government, and there will be an uncivil civil reaction. This reaction is just what the Commies-in-Charge want, as it will supply them with much-needed justification to impose martial law upon the people, and within that construct reduce the population.

The opening shots of the Tenth Crusade were fired on September 11, 2001, when Islamists attacked the World Trade Center, using aircraft as flying bombs, and taking over 3,300 lives. The goal of Islam is to dominate the world as the single religion, while the goal of the rest of the world is to choose their own religious beliefs, or to choose none at all. The followers of Islam are involved in the majority of those 391 "armed conflicts" mentioned in my first paragraph. They are "eating the elephant... one bite at a time". Conquering other people's right to choose by use of "the sword". If they are not stopped, and stopped SOON, they may just succeed in accomplishing their goal. Just my 2¢ worth. If you choose to disagree with my assessment, I will support your right to remain ignorant, and to perish forthwith from the Earth.

TEA Party A Bit Overboard?

I try to be as objective as I can with my posts, but my life experiences undoubtedly "color" my views somewhat. I received an email this morning from the TEA Party claiming:
"Open your eyes and look at the past two years objectively:


  • Killer drones primed to kill U.S. citizens;

  • Jailing citizens without due process;

  • Assassinations of citizens endorsed by the Obama regime;

  • Active seeking out of top military officials willing to fire on U.S. citizens;

  • Stockpiling of billions of hollow point killer rounds by the alphabet agencies;

  • Obama's regime demanding the disarmament of America;

  • Grabbing your guns without rhyme or reason;

  • Destruction of the Constitution and the targeting of the Second Amendment."
Evaluating these claims based upon what I have gleaned from numerous sources over the past few years, I believe their claims are  noticeably over-the-top  - to wit:

Killer drones primed to kill U.S. citizens - Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), also known as "drones", are quite capable of delivering devastating, terminal payloads. Yes, they can kill from above, and do so quite effectively in combat zones. The proposed, purported (1. To have or present the often false appearance of being or intending; profess) use of drones within the geographical United States is for observation in high crime areas. Is that a fact? Only our government knows for sure. Do I trust the government to keep it's word? No. Ask the Native Americans about the truthfulness of government promises.
Politicians are noted for their ability to tell half-truths - and outright lies - in order to accomplish their goals, and the government is run by politicians. Politics is a profession of smoke and mirrors. Would they use drones to kill U.S. citizens? I am not naive enough to believe they wouldn't. Is that the plan? Who knows?

Jailing citizens without due process - This is now possible, thanks to the so-called "Patriot Act", the National Defense Authorization Act, and the left-wing administration. The government now has the authority to conduct warrantless searches, detain, arrest, seize personal property, and incarcerate citizens for indeterminate periods based solely upon "suspicion of ________". Those two "acts" have abridged the First and Third Amendments in the Bill of Rights under the guise of keeping the country safe... and it is safe - just not from the actions of the government itself.

 Assassinations of citizens endorsed by the Obama regime - The only verifiable instance I am aware of (and one verifiable instance does make the claim true) concerns the termination of one Anwar al-Awlaki, a radical American-born Muslim cleric living in Yemen. However, his involvement in - and support of - terrorist activities against the United States interests could easily be interpreted as al-Awlaki being an "enemy combatant". One does not have to be a foreigner to be an active enemy of the USA.


Active seeking out of top military officials willing to fire on U.S. citizens - According to reports from several usually reliable sources:
"Dr. Jim Garrow (a Nobel Peace Prize winner) made a shocking claim about what we can expect to see in Obama's second term. Garrow made the following Facebook post"
I have just been informed by a former senior military leader that Obama is using a new “litmus test” in determining who will stay and who must go in his military leaders. Get ready to explode folks. “The new litmus test of leadership in the military is if they will fire on US citizens or not.” Those who will not are being removed.
So, who is the source?
Garrow replied: “The man who told me this is one of America’s foremost military heroes.”

There are other, background goings-on which make Garrow's claim believable. The next item is one of those goings-on.

 Stockpiling of billions of hollow point killer rounds by the alphabet agencies - DHS alone, has ordered FOUR BILLION (4,000,000,000) rounds of ammunition. That's enough to shoot every person in the USA ten times, and then eradicate Lichtenstein, Monte Carlo and Vatican City. More recently, DHS has also requested the purchase of 7,000 semi-automatic AR-15 carbines (rifles). One can only guess at the intended use... my guess is that these are not for deer hunting, or recreational shooting.

Obama's regime demanding the disarmament of America - This is in agreement with the UN "Small Arms Trade Treaty", which Obama (and I assume his new Sec'y of State, John Kerry) can barely wait to sign, since it is the first step toward taking guns away from law abiding citizens. Luckily, treaties do not have the force of law unless they are ratified by the Senate. Ratification also requires that two-thirds of the senators present concur. "Present" is the word that gives me some concern - politicians have been known to have votes without informing the opposition party.

Grabbing your guns without rhyme or reason - See Obama's recent 23 asinine Executive Orders for "gun control" - these are the first steps toward registration, which is the first step toward confiscation. The left is nibbling away at our rights, one bite at a time.

Destruction of the Constitution and the targeting of the Second Amendment - Obama never misses an opportunity to circumvent the Constitution, which borders upon a violation of his Oath of Office, and treason. The Constitution seems to be an annoyance - a stumbling block - to Obama and the other left-wingers in the country. The Second Amendment recognizes our God-given right to self defense by affirmation of our "right to keep and bear arms". As such, Amendment II is the keystone to all our Constitutional rights, and was included in the #2 spot to protect our citizenry from the imposition of a tyrannical form of government. If  the Second Amendment is ever abridged or deleted, the rest of our rights will be eliminated in short order.

Again, the above is based upon reports and personal observations over the last 7 decades. Nothing more than my thoughts on what's happening in our country.

American Women In Combat Roles - A BAD IDEA!

Although several, if not many, smaller countries use women in combat, the cultures of those countries are significantly different from that of the United States of America.

Among those countries, Israel immediately comes to mind, as do most Islamic countries. Israel is a country predominantly populated by ethnic and religious Jews. The Jews have been persecuted since biblical times. Their survival as a people has always depended upon their ability to effectively defend themselves against those who sought to overpower, enslave, or eliminate them from the face of the Earth. It is a common misperception that Israel allows women in combat units. In fact, women have been barred from combat in Israel since 1950, when a review of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War showed how harmful their presence could be. The study revealed that men tried to protect and assist women rather than continue their attack. As a result, they not only put their own lives in greater danger, but also jeopardized the survival of the entire unit. The study further revealed that unit morale was damaged when men saw women killed and maimed on the battlefield.

Throughout history (as we are taught history), Muslims have traditionally been a warlike people... at least since there has been the Islamic Muslim faith. Islam was created by a man named Muhammad, who had "visions" in a cave near Mecca in 610AD, and spent the next 12 years preaching on the streets of Mecca. Islam became recognized as a religion in 622AD, with the creation of the Islamic calendar. One of the goals of Islam is world domination, by means of conversion or execution of "the infidels" (anybody that is not Muslim, or apostate Muslims ), and the establishment of a world Caliphate.

The history of the United States is similar to the above in some respects, and totally dissimilar in others. Our culture raises men to respect and protect women, or at least it did until the most recent generation. The majority of men still see women as "the weaker sex" and therefore in need of their protection. Therein lies the "problem". Just as the Israeli's experienced men trying to "protect and assist their female counterparts rather than continue their attack", American men will be culturally and psychologically inclined to do exactly the same. And the end result will unquestionably be the same - they not only will put their own lives in greater danger, but will also jeopardize the survival of the entire unit.

Wherever men and women are put together there is, always has been, and always will be - "fraternization". Fraternization is a military crime punishable by a maximum of two years in prison, and a dishonorable discharge for enlisted personnel and dismissal for officers. (Why enlisted personnel can be imprisoned, and officers just dismissed from the military is beyond me. The crime is the same, but the elitists get to walk away, while the working-class military go to the "Gray Bar Hotel") While the Army defines fraternization differently from the other services, the maximum penalty is the same in all. As a practical matter, though, fraternization alone is rarely prosecuted; instead, most such cases are handled with administrative punishment like a letter of reprimand. Essentially, "fraternization" is a euphemism for inappropriate social interactions between different ranks (I will leave the details of what may constitute "inappropriate social interactions" up to your imagination). When interpersonal relationships (beyond those required to perform one's assigned military duties) arise, there is always the possibility of an unexpected, often unwanted pregnancy. What do we then do with a pregnant "warrior"?

Why is the United States Government even considering assigning women to combat units as combat soldiers, when the DoD has access to this information - “Few serious armies use women in combat roles. Israel, which drafts most of its young women and uses them in all kinds of military work, has learned from experience to take them out of combat zones. Tests show that few women have the upper-body strength required for combat tasks. Keeping combat forces all male would not be discriminatory, as were earlier racial segregation schemes in the military, because men and women are different both physically and psychologically,” said the Feb. 5, 1990, National Review.

Who am I to argue with those who have investigated the consequences of women serving in combat roles? It is not that they are afraid to fight, it is that they will be a greater liability in a combat zone than would their male counterparts. If the fight is brought to them, I feel certain that the majority of American women would pick up a weapon and defend themselves and others. But, if the combat should become hand-to-hand, they will most probably not be victorious. Just my thoughts on the subject. I could be wrong… and the Sun could rise in the west tomorrow morning.

A Comprehensive List of Obama's POSITIVE Accomplishments As A "Public Servant"





This depiction is as close to "positive" as I could find. Based upon verifiable fact, Obama has positively ruined our economy.

We can expect no positive change prior to November of 2016, and then, only if the supporters of the left choose to forgo their own selfish interests for the benefit of our Republic.

Death By A Thousand Cuts - The Gradual Destruction of Our Constitution



The Obama Administration has proven time and again its disdain for the U.S. Constitution - which is viewed as an impediment to accomplishing their surreptitious goal of imposing their will on the American people.

Yes, this Architect of  Destruction was re-elected by a majority of voters. That particular majority is composed of those who benefit primarily from government "entitlement programs", such as Welfare and Medicaid, in which the beneficiary has no investment. Programs into which the worker's taxes are diverted to support those who are uninterested in becoming self-supporting. This is an obvious conflict of interest, and these people should not be allowed to vote. Who comprises this "majority of voters"? Single issue voters - the under-informed and those unconcerned about the continued success of our country - they are the, "What's in it for me?" crowd.

·        Those who choose to let the government support them, as opposed to those who are self-sufficient - 4th and 5th generation welfare recipients. For them, living off the earnings of others has become the "family business", passed along from parent to child. They are lured into the voting booth by the promise of continued - and increased - government support. (Single issue voters)
·        Those who are in this country illegally, who also benefit from those same government entitlement programs, and who are promised amnesty and citizenship by the government's incumbent leadership, as a reward for circumventing our country's immigration laws. They are criminals from the day they enter our country… if not before. (Single issue voters)
·        The extended resident families of illegal residents, who wish their relatives to be closer so they can interact with them on a more regular basis. (Single issue voters)
·        Socialist-"Progressives", who believe that the fruits of those who labor should be evenly divided between the worker and those who choose not to work. These people are the self-appointed "social conscience" of our nation. They have a warped philosophy that demands those who do nothing for themselves have an inherent, God-given right to live as well as those who actually work to provide for themselves and their family. (Single issue voters)
·        Those who suffer from White Guilt Syndrome, and who feel the only cure is to vote for anybody who is not of the Caucasian persuasion. (Single issue voters)
·        Those who are unfamiliar with, and unconcerned about, the overreaching long-term effects of socialist-style governance. The "Can I reasonably expect this to have any  impact upon my daily life?" gang. (Single issue voters)

Swatches of Obama's life reveal little… but, when viewed as "whole cloth", the influences on Obama's life comprise a who's who of the radical leftist movement, and it becomes painfully apparent that not only is Obama a willing participant in that movement, he has spent most of his adult life deeply immersed in it.
I will now introduce Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, authors of …

The Cloward-Piven Strategy of Orchestrated Crisis

This strategy was first seen in the May 2, 1966 issue of The Nation magazine by a pair of radical socialist Columbia University professors - Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven. David Horowitz encapsulates it thusly:
The strategy of forcing political change through orchestrated crisis. The "Cloward-Piven Strategy" seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.

Cloward and Piven were inspired by radical organizer [and Hillary Clinton mentor] Saul Alinsky:
"Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules," Alinsky wrote in his 1989 book Rules for Radicals. "When pressed to honor every word of every law and statute, every Judeo-Christian moral tenet, and every implicit promise of the liberal social contract, human agencies inevitably fall short. The system's failure to 'live up' to its rule book can then be used to discredit it altogether, and to replace the capitalist 'rule book' with a socialist one."

Cloward and Piven were specific about the kind of "crisis" they were trying to create:
By crisis, we mean a publicly visible disruption in some institutional sphere. Crisis can occur spontaneously (e.g., riots) or as the intended result of tactics of demonstration and protest which either generate institutional disruption or bring unrecognized disruption to public attention.

No matter where the strategy is implemented, it shares the following features:
1.     The offensive organizes previously unorganized groups eligible for government benefits but not currently receiving all they can.
2.     The offensive seeks to identify new beneficiaries and/or create new benefits. 
3.  The overarching aim is always to impose new stresses on target systems, with the ultimate goal of forcing their collapse.

The preceding is Cloward-Piven in a nutshell (see diagram of C-P at the end of this post - for specific details Google Cloward Piven Strategy). This constitutes the crux - the backbone - of the Cloward-Piven Strategy. Now, in light of this explanation of strategy, look back and review Obama's actions over the past four years…
·        Extending unemployment benefits beyond anything this country has ever seen. As the economy slowly tanked, due to the surreptitious efforts of our currently left-wing dominated government, unemployment naturally increased. If people are buying fewer products made by XYZ Corporation, XYZ will necessarily have to reduce their overhead costs of production in order to satisfy their obligations to stockholders. Where can they most easily do this? The costs of labor and quality of materials used to produce the product. This is achieved through layoffs of ambiguous/redundant personnel, and reduction in the quality of ingredients/ parts/components used in the manufacturing process. These reductions also activate "trickle down unemployment", in that their suppliers of materials may be forced to follow suit in their factory based upon reduced product demand, and on and on. (See above C-P "…thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.")
·        Increasing Welfare benefits by providing goods and services well beyond those of "necessities". Instead of  providing only food "staples" (Flour, Wheat, Salt, Pepper, Rice, Dried Beans, Yeast, Butter, Milk, Cheese, etc.), EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) Cards can be used for frozen meals, cut meats, sectioned poultry, shrimp, lobster, etc. - food items that many working people cannot afford. They can now even be used at fast food restaurants! (Another wound "…thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.")
·        The "Occupy" movement(s) - designed to disrupt the flow of various private financial, educational and government institutions. (C-P strategy: "Crisis can occur spontaneously (e.g., riots) or as the intended result of tactics of demonstration and protest." and "… thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.")
·        Creating a Cabinet replete with persons whose political philosophies are inimical to the interests of the United States, and giving aid and support to foreign political entities (like Egypt, now run by the Muslim Brotherhood, and linked to numerous terrorist organizations, to whom our government just sold 20 F-16 fighter jets and 200 Abrams M1 tanks) whose avowed goal is the annihilation of Israel, and the establishment of a world-wide Islamic theocracy and Caliphate, governing by the draconian laws of "Sharia". Giving "aid and support" to our enemies was once considered to be an act of treason. Why has Obama not been impeached for this treasonous act (just one of his many violations of our Constitutions)?

We also have an abuse of power through Executive Order. Obama uses it as a tool to bypass Congress when he doesn't want a vote. "Executive Order 13621: WHITE HOUSE INITIATIVE ON EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE FOR AFRICAN AMERICANS" is a prime example of this. Executive Office racism! Why should African-Americans - specifically - need an edict from the White house on "educational excellence"? Why not specify Native Americans, or Latino Americans… or simply Americans in general? Why not issue an EO demanding that all Americans become self-motivated to excel in their educational endeavors?

An Executive Order becomes law 30 days after signing… unless it is challenged by Congress.  Where are the Congressional challenges? Where are our "checks and balances"? Where are the few elected representatives of the people who may have the cojones to question the demands of The Great Usurper? (I say "may" because the existence of any such people in Congress is highly questionable.) The demonstrated irresponsibility of our "leadership" in all three branches of  Government is appalling! (More wounds to the Constitution)

Socialism as a practical form of government is anathema to a still slight majority of Americans…  those who yet believe in the Democratic Republic, and those who toil for wages. As Margaret Thatcher so succinctly worded it, “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money. ”

Obama's solution to that noteworthy "problem", is to borrow more money to distribute frivolously, and then, to print more money which is worth less because there are no reserves behind the paper that it's printed on! We are not only on the financial path to becoming the world's next Greece, we are on the Hyperinflation Expressway to becoming the world's next Zimbabwe. (During the height of inflation from 2008 to 2009, it was difficult to measure Zimbabwe's hyperinflation because the government of Zimbabwe stopped filing official inflation statistics. However, Zimbabwe's peak month of inflation is estimated at 6.5 sextillion percent in mid-November 2008. In March of 2008, a loaf of bread cost 10,000,000 $Z. Yes, that's TEN MILLION ZIMBABWE DOLLARS! In 2009, Zimbabwe abandoned its currency. As of 2012, Zimbabwe still had no national currency; currencies from other countries are used.)

LET'S TALK ABOUT OUR CONSTITUTION FOR A FEW MINUTES...

The "Hot Button" issue involving our Constitution today is the Second Amendment. Our natural, God-given RIGHTS are simply affirmed by the first ten amendments to the Constitution, which are known as the "Bill of Rights". Understand that these freedoms are not granted by the Government. The Bill of Rights simply recognizes and affirms that these RIGHTS are natural and God-given.  The combination of the human heart-mind desires freedom at birth, yet in some cultures those natural desires are - figuratively speaking - "beaten out of" the populace beginning at birth. These cultures will never drink of the refreshing waters of freedom.

 Our linear-thinking founders chose to compose the Bill of Rights delineating those rights in order of importance.

"Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

The First Amendment affirms our rights to freely express ourselves - to speak our mind; to practice - or not - a religious belief system; to peaceably come together in a group of unspecified size for an unspecified purpose; and to "petition the Government" if they are doing something which we believe is not in the public interest.

The First Amendment has been slowly-  but consistently - assailed by the liberal left, and the ACLU. The best known, most obvious - but least recognized as such, are the recent concepts of "Political Correctness" and codification of "Hate Crimes". It is PC not to use the dreaded "N" word. Not that anybody should use that word, but those who do now become social pariahs. Granted it is just one word... but, the loss of freedom begins with just one freedom.
                                                                                                                                                               
"Amendment II
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

The left wants to argue the semantics of  this plain-English statement. They believe that a "Militia" is the military, and only the military. Let's clarify that from one English language dictionary:
"Definition of MILITIA
1a : a part of the organized armed forces of a country liable to call only in emergency
b : a body of citizens organized for military service
2: the whole body of able-bodied male citizens declared by law as being subject to call to military service" (emphasis added for clarity)
(The Government recognizes two classes of "militia" the organized militia and the unorganized militia. The organized militia is generally accepted to be the National Guard of each of the 50 U.S. states. The unorganized militia are those citizens who stand ready to protect the country in the case of an extreme emergency.)

Notice the Second Amendment's reference to "the security of a free State", not a free nation. (However, by logical extension, the 50 "free states" combine to maintain a free nation.) Anybody with any level of literacy must admit (even if it goes against their personal beliefs) that " the right of the people to keep and bear Arms" needs to further explanation. It is the RIGHT of the PEOPLE, requiring no permissions from the Government.
"Infringed" is a word the left loves to argue. I'm sorry, but the word was defined for us 500 years ago:
"Definition of INFRINGE
transitive verb
1: to encroach upon in a way that violates law or the rights of another <infringe a patent>
2 obsolete : defeat, frustrate" (emphasis added)
The Constitution is the supreme law, the basis for all laws and constraining those whom we elect to govern us. Any impediment  or obstacle to the free ownership, possession and use of firearms by law abiding citizens, created by the Government is an infringement!

"Amendment III No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law."

I don't believe any further explanation of this amendment is necessary.

"Amendment IV
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

We should all be aware of the assault on the Fourth Amendment, in the form of the "Patriot Act" and the "National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)" both of which infringe on each of the rights specified therein. Warrantless searches, and indefinite detention of Americans by the military, only upon "suspicion" have been authorized by these acts.

Amendments V thru VIII do not appear to be worth efforts of usurpation by the liberal left or the ACLU. In the interest of brevity I will not discuss those here.

"Amendment IX
The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people."

A bit vague, but the implication is that we have more natural rights than those specified in the BoR.

"Amendment X
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

At last count, thirty three states had found it necessary to reaffirm their sovereignty to the Federal Government. They did not take such actions because they had nothing better to do at the time - they did so because they could sense the threat of tyranny emanating from the White House and Congress

Our Founding Fathers gave our right to keep and bear arms the prestigious second position in our Founding Document. Amendment II does not say, or even imply, that this right is only for hunting, or competitive shooting. It does not say we can only have a musket (which was state of the gunmaker's art at the time of it's writing), ten musket balls and one powder horn. It gives us the RIGHT to own whatever arms technology is offered to the general population. One lame argument against the "military-style assault weapons", is that our founders didn't have semi-automatic weapons. They also didn't have automobiles, radio, television, cellphones, or electric anything! Should we then ban anything our Founders didn't have? The left would have us believe that the Founders had no idea that there would be technological advances -  that they were ignorant of the fact that there would be technical progress beyond that which they possessed!

The Second Amendment is to protect the citizens of the United States of America against the establishment of a tyrannical, dictatorial, or purely democratic form of government. This is why our foundation is that of a Democratic REPUBLIC, as opposed to a "Democracy". The Second amendment is the keystone of the Constitution's Bill of Rights - if it falls the rest will follow shortly thereafter.

I personally have taken an Oath to, "protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America against ALL enemies foreign and domestic", three times in my life. That Oath has no expiration date. What is an "oath" you ask?

1a (1) : a solemn usually formal calling upon God or a god to witness to the truth of what one says or to witness that one sincerely intends to do what one says (2) : a solemn attestation of the truth or inviolability of one's words
b : something (as a promise) corroborated by an oath"
 An oath is an expression of fealty, a unilateral bargain insured by one's personal honor. I understand that "honor" is considered an archaic concept in today's world. Honor is viewed as a silly anachronism - perhaps by many - but believed in, and defended by more.
Those who would circumvent, usurp or otherwise reduce or thwart the intent of our Founding document ARE domestic enemies. The marginalization of our rights, for any reason, is unconscionable to a free people. Defense of the Second amendment IS defense of our Constitution! Don't drink the leftist Kool-Aid - protest loudly and resist any and all attempts to modify this document. A Document which has served the PEOPLE well for 236 years!

HEALTH CARE REFORM FOR DUMMIES!

I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but this "health care reform" seems a bit out of kilter to me. If it was made by Bally's the "Health Care Thrills" pinball machine's TILT light would be flashing and the buzzer would be blaring loudly! Here's what I see as the best way to get health care costs under control - with very little actual government control:

We begin at the source of skyrocketing health care costs - the pharmaceutical companies, and the medical equipment manufacturers -
  1. Pharmaceuticals (prescription drugs) in the US cost anywhere between 3 and 10 times what the same drugs are being sold for in both the northern and southern parts of North America (for those of you who failed geography, that's Canada and Mexico). And, in 3rd World, or "developing" nations, the disparity becomes even greater! Why is it that the USA gets to pay the premium price for necessary medical supplies when they are created within our own borders? Because the PharmCo's think we can afford the outrageous prices, and that we should pay for all their R&D. Granted, Research and Development of medicines is an expensive proposition, but why do Americans have to bear those costs alone? And why do the PharmCo's seem to believe they should recoup those expenses in the first 6 months of sales? Those costs are passed on at your neighborhood pharmacy as well as at your local hospital. Why does the same Band Aid, or USP formula aspirin that sells for $4.00 per hundred at Rite Aid or Wal-Mart, cost you $5.00 per pill on your hospital bill? Because those of us who actually pay our medical bills (with or without medical insurance), pay our medical bills... and we foot the costs for those who do not!
  2. Medical equipment costs are outrageously expensive, due to a captive audience (where else ya gonna go?) and no hospital is considered a hospital these days if they don't have a CT Scanner or MRI Scanner. R&D costs to develop safe and effective medical equipment are at least equal to those of the pharmaceutical industry. Where is it written that being a manufacturer of anything is cheap? They are in these businesses because they can make a fortune producing items that are essential to keeping people alive! A "decent' Magnetic Resonance Instrument costs your hospital between $1,000,000 and $3,000,000, and a top-of-the-line MRI is more than that! Why are these machines that expensive? The manufacturers, like all corporations, have stockholders who expect a return on their investment in a (un)reasonable period of time and, to meet those expectations, R&D costs (investment $$) must be recouped in the shortest amount of time possible.
  3. Here's a question that boggles the most brilliant minds - even mine... (almost)! Why is a one week stay in the hospital after a heart attack, billed at $38,000, but settled for at $8,000 with your insurance company? Because they know that the insurance company can and will pay that $8,000, and if they had to depend on an uninsured, minimum-wage, working-class person to pay that $38K bill, it would take decades to get their money. It's the practical application of the "bird in the hand" principal. "Eighteen percent of something is better than one hundred percent of nothing."
    "So, Mister Smartypants, what can be done about it?" you ask.. 
  • IF the government must get involved let it be in the structuring of the health care system, not the administration thereof. The responsibility should rest with Congress to initiate legislation prohibiting profiteering (not to be confused with reasonable profit) in any health-related industry at any time. Further, prohibit profiteering in any critical industry at any time.

     
  • To that end, Congress would make it incumbent upon any manufacturer of health-related products or services products to recoup R&D costs for each successful development over a period of 10 years, with fines equal to or exceeding the profits found to be in excess.
  •    
  • Allowable costs for prescription medicines and equipment, would be universal, and Pill X would cost no more in the USA than it would cost in Johannesburg, or Athens. Just my thoughts.
