CAN YOU HEAR US NOW, WASHINGTON?

Scott Brown's victory in Massachusetts over Martha Coakley sent a loud, clear message to Washington D.C. this week - one that could have been heard by the entire student body at Gallaudet University. In case some of our elected officials weren't listening I will spell it out for them -

"WE'RE MAD AS HELL, AND WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANY MORE!"

The seat occupied by Ted Kennedy (D-MA) for almost a half-century was won by a republican. In the past 6 months, the Democrats have lost every noteworthy special election in the country, yet Obama has failed to take heed and make a course correction... or has he? His goal hasn't changed one bit. His destination is exactly the same - socialism forced down the throats of Americans! What has changed is the amount of pressure he puts upon the accelerator.

Have you ever wondered why Obama is in such a hurry to get things done? Have you asked yourself why legislation consisting of thousands of pages - that nobody will take credit for drafting - is passed without having been read by the House or Senate? Have you not puzzled over why Obama is spending us into fiscal oblivion? Stevie Wonder could see the answer to those questions, and, like so many of our fellow citizens, he may be loathe to admit it - even to himself. EVEN OBAMA RECOGNIZES THAT HE IS ONLY A ONE-TERM PRESIDENT (if his luck holds out)!

Obama has proven himself to be a totally unqualified captain of our "Ship of State", but he is well-qualified for his real job... which is to scuttle her. (For those of you who may not be familiar with the nautical term "scuttle", it means" - 1 : to cut a hole through the bottom, deck, or side of (a ship); specifically : to sink or attempt to sink by making holes through the bottom 2 : destroy, wreck; also : scrap) He is blithely joined in this act of national piracy by his crew of underlings - who control both the House and the Senate. The cargo in the hold of our Ship of State is PORK.

Anonymous legislation gets passed simply because of the Democrats super majority, which translates as "We have all the votes we need to pass those bills without a single 'conservative' vote" being cast in favor of it. A super majority is essentially nothing more than a politically partisan dictatorship.

Creating crises is what Obama is about. It's perfectly in line with the Cloward-Piven Strategy (see my 7/13/09). Create crises and diversions, overload the system, collapse the government, then remake the nation in the desired socialist image.

Rather than go against Obama, Democrats in Congress are retiring, resigning, "walking the plank" (committing political suicide by supporting Obama and going against the expressed wishes of their constituents) and/or "jumping ship" (changing party affiliation).

November isn't that far away - remember what we have seen from the Democrats control of our government thus far and vote accordingly.

ADOPTING ISOLATIONISM AS AMERICAN POLICY... It's Looking Better Every Day!

The upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference is to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark, December 7-18, 2009. There have been concerns raised, on my blog as well as elsewhere, that Obama would attend and sign a "Climate Change Treaty" which is purported to hold dire consequences for our nation, including the acceptance of a "Climate Debt", primarily levied upon developed (read: western) nations (all of Europe, Canada, USA, Japan and probably Australia). The disturbing text of the UN draft treaty reads, in part:

"8. Deep cuts [by developed countries] [by all Annex I country Parties] [by all developed countries] in global emissions by Parties in accordance with their historical responsibilities, as well as the principles of equity and common but differentiated responsibilities, and realistic changes in emission patterns [will be] [are urgently] required to prevent dangerous interference with the climate system and achieve the ultimate objective of the Convention. Early and urgent action by all countries on the basis of equity and according to their common but differentiated responsibilities and respective capabilities is necessary. [A] [Further] delay by Parties [in implementing their commitments to reduce] [reducing] emissions will increase their climate debt to the developing countries and significantly constrain opportunities to achieve lower stabilization levels of greenhouse gases (GHGs) and increase the risk of more severe climate change impacts. Avoidance of damage to SIDS and LDCs as a primary benchmark for assessing the adequacy of long-term cooperative action.
9. The shared vision for long-term cooperative action recognizes the strong link between adaptation and mitigation as well as the cross-cutting role played by financing, technology transfer and capacitybuilding. Failure to implement ambitious and immediate mitigation actions by developed countries will increase the need for adaptation in developing countries and therefore for financial support. At the same time, increased financial support and technology transfer to developing countries will help these countries in their implementation of NAMAs, reducing the risk of crossing tipping points that could result in abrupt climate change."

Disregarding the several contextually unrecognized acronyms, and the legalistic wording, the bottom line appears to be that somebody in the UN seems to think that the successful nations of the world should be billed for their successes. That somehow. that success was made possible by the sacrifices of the "3rd world countries", rather than those who - through their own efforts, expense, and ingenuity - created success from ecological chaos. Therefore, the developed nations owe a debt to those who were too lazy to get up and answer the door when opportunity knocked.

EXCUSE ME??

Who put the UN in charge of global debt collection? If they want to start, let them begin by collecting the war debts owed to the United States by most of the developed world! At last count, only Finland and Great Britain had repaid their WWII debt to the USA. The remainder was primarily ignored or even forgiven for political reasons.

The "mainstream media" - almost to a man - publishes articles expressing serious doubts that Obama will attend the Copenhagen Climate Conference. Keep in mind however, that the mainstream media has been in Obama's pocket since he announced his candidacy for the office of President. Another effect of the aforementioned treaty would be to place the United States under a "World Government", International law, and the auspices of the World Court, which would - in any practical sense - be handing over our sovereignty to some third party!

For a change, I actually hope the mainstream left-wing media is correct in their assumptions. Obama may be spineless and incompetent, but he cannot possibly be stupid enough to expect that signing us over to a "World Government" would go unanswered by Americans.

AMERICANS TO BE ENSLAVED TO U.N.? You decide...

The following is a excerpt from a speech recently delivered by Lord Monckton in St. Paul MN, on the subject of Climate Change and the impending U.N. Climate Treaty (the one that says fine the western nations [that's US] for polluting the atmosphere, and then give the money to the poor developing nations - that treaty). This excerpt is less than 5 minutes of a 90 minute speech, but it carries a foreboding message, and is well worth hearing...

Is he telling us the truth, the truth as he interprets it, or just blowing smoke? If he's not just blowing smoke, then we have good cause for concern. Are we about to be sold out by our Nobel Peace Prize winning "President"? Or, is this how he actually plans to earn that Nobel? Will the liberals be successful in repealing the 13th Amendment and reinstating slavery for the masses? The possibilities seem endless.

Obama Blows It Again! Or, Maybe, "It Again" Is Unnecessary

President Obama and his administration have ordered FBI agents to read terror suspects their Miranda Rights; even though they have been captured on foreign soil and are not U.S. citizens officially protected by the Miranda vs. Arizona decision over 40 years ago. The Obama Justice Department has quietly ordered the FBI to issue Miranda rights to foreign fighters captured on the field of battle.

The problems I have with that include (but are not limited to):
1. The terror suspects are not American citizens, nor have they been "arrested" for committing a crime on American soil.
2. The FBI's "charter" is within the confines of the 50 United States.
3. The vast majority of terrorists (99.9%) were not captured upon U.S. soil. They have not been "arrested" per se.
4. Accordingly, suspects arrested in the US are to be Mirandized before Questioning - which, in the case of foreign enemy combatants, will mean that crucial intelligence opportunities must be postponed until the FBI arrives. In the interim, the lives of American soldiers are placed in additional and unnecessary jeopardy, due to their inability to harvest
immediate and timely humint.
5. Under whose laws will they be charged, and what will those charges be? We cannot charge them under the laws of the country in which they were captured, simply because we do not administer those laws. We can't charge them under the United States Code, because they commited no crime upon U.S soil.
6. Besides which, is there anything in our laws which makes it illegal to fire upon U.S. military forces on foreign soil?
7. Where the hell is the money going to come from to try these 200+ prisoners in US civilian courts?

The trial of an enemy combatant has, throughout recorded history, fallen upon the commander of the opposing forces and whatever military tribunal was appointed by him. Prior to the 20th century, trials of enemy combatants were considerably simpler. The prisoner was brought before the tribunal, found guilty, and executed - all within the space of about 10 minutes... and at virtually NO expense! Beheadings by the sword were free... and an 18th century 7-man firing squad invoked a total cost about 21¢ for the cost of 7 bullets and gunpowder. Those were the good ol' days!

The legal complexities and logistics of trying enemy combatants in civilian courts under US laws are mind boggling. This is obviously something that should remain under the auspices of a military tribunal, for any number of practical reasons (see items 1-7 above). In an imploding economy cost alone should tell Obama that he has chosen the wrong path. On the other hand, it's not like it's Obama's money being spent on this fiasco... it's OURS! And, if he needs more, he'll just raise taxes!

Republican Named U.S. Ambassador to China

Barack Obama has picked Republican Jon Huntsman to serve as his China ambassador, in a move perceived by the GOP as 'smart'... and probably seen by the Democrats as 'absolutely brilliant'!

The grapevine has it that Huntsman is one of the front runners for the Republican nomination in 2012! What a great place to send your potential opposition - CHINA. Are you familiar with the old saying, "Out of sight, out of mind."? Royalty (and various other assorted Potentates) - such as HRH Barack Hussein Obama - have been exiling those who were threats to their power for thousands of years. True! If they couldn't have them killed, either by "unknown blackguards" (no pun intended), or accuse another politically dangerous foe of the crime, then they would simply dispatch them to a far off land... like CHINA.

I never said Obama wasn't smart... just that he's a post turtle, and that he doesn't have a clue about the depth of the water in which he is swimming. The problem is, that as he drowns in his own socialist ignorance, he will not let go of the country... and the USA will be drowned by him.

Obama - FENCE MENDER, FENCE SITTER... or POST TURTLE?

Obama continues to function as President just as he functioned as Senator - spending little time where he belongs, basically voting "Present" on the Presidency, and kissing every anti-American political derriere he can find globally!

No "leader" of any nation should apologize for it... not even Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran (although if anyone ever should have, he would be the one). All national leaders seem to understand that, with one notable exception. While, without exception, the leaders of other countries are extolling their virtuous behaviors and meaningful accomplishments, it seems Barack Obama can only see the negative in our American culture. He is truly a "post turtle". For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the term post turtle, here's a short story that explains it:

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75-year-old Texas rancher whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his bid to be our President.

The old rancher said, “Well, ya know, Obama is a “post turtle.”

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a “post turtle”was.

The old rancher said, “When you’re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a “post turtle”.

The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor’s face, so he continued to explain. “You know he didn’t get up there by himself, he doesn’t belong up there, he doesn’t know what to do while he is up there, and you just wonder what kind of a dumb ass put him up there.” ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I understand that not everything that is wrong with our government is Obama's fault... he hasn't spent enough time in the office to claim that... yet. Most of what is wrong is the fault of the Congress, and the system that allows them to run amok, collectively and individually, in some cases for decades, building political dynastys - like the Kennedy's of Massachusetts and the Dodd's of Connecticut. Spending those tax dollars which WE labor to earn as if the money were their own personal slush fund! Unlimited consecutive terms not only support corruption, the concept seems to encourage corruption. But, I digress...

When our Chief Executive travels abroad he is, in effect, also our top salesman. What would you buy from a salesman that told you his product sucked? If you were the employer of that salesman, would you not fire him? We are the employers of all elected officials, including Congress and the President. How happy are you with their job performance? In about 18 months it will be time to vote for members of the House and Senate. Whom will you choose to fire? If they were limited to one term, we wouldn't have to worry about "the incumbent" - there would be no such thing! Replacing the Congress is the only way we will be able to impeach the un-American in the White House. It's something that needs to be done.

States Rights? What A Ridiculous Idea!

The headline at HumanEvents.com reads: "Eleven States Declare Sovereignty Over Obama's Actions" and the following is an excerpt from that site ...

"In the first five weeks of his presidency, Barack Obama has acted so rashly that at least 11 states have decided that his brand of “hope” equates to an intolerable expansion of the federal government’s authority over the states. These states -- "Washington, New Hampshire, Arizona, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, California...Georgia," South Carolina, and Texas -- "have all introduced bills and resolutions" reminding Obama that the 10th Amendment protects the rights of the states, which are the rights of the people, by limting the power of the federal government. These resolutions call on Obama to “cease and desist” from his reckless government expansion and also indicate that federal laws and regulations implemented in violation of the 10th Amendment can be nullified by the states."

It was unsurprising that our left-wing Socialist Government would move quickly to minimize states rights. Equally unsurprising are the various left-wing efforts around the country to make gun ownership extremely difficult and/or extremely expensive, inasmuch as they understand the immediate citizens response to making ownership of firearms illegal. Labyrinthine laws, Draconian in their intent and confusing by design, have sprung up in many places. One state legislator has proposed a law requiring that all gun owners must provide proof of a $1,000,000 liability insurance policy specifically for their firearms. This is good news for the insurance companies, but not so good for the honest working-class citizen. Illinois Representative Bobby Rush has submitted HR45: Blair Holt's Firearms Licensing and Record of Sales Act of 2009, as a proposed law in an attempt to intimidate gun owners by tracking them like ex-convicts, and burying them in an avalanche of administrative requirements. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A STATES RIGHTS ISSUE! And apparently, it's one of the many Constitutional protections the left-wing wishes to eliminate. Registration is the first step toward confiscation.

Here's an excerpt from a little known passage in our Declaration of Independence - "That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security." The reference, of course, is to the tyrannical rule of King George III over the "subjects" of the British Colonies now known as the United States of America.

Given our present course, I see the USA being replaced by the SSA (Socialist States of America), because of our complacency. According to the published election results, a slight majority of our countrymen - both living and dead - chose to elect a known left wing Socialist as our President. Barack Obama is a man, who through deed and word, has demonstrated his disdain for our country, its customs, and our cultural heritage. He failed to show respect to our flag - a flag for which tens of thousands of freedom-loving Americans have sacrificed their lives. And in his book, "The Audacity of Hope" there's this statement:

“I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”

I'm sorry, but how ignorant does one have to be to NOT understand that Obama does not now, nor has he ever, had the best interests of our country at heart? IF he is an American by virtue of his birth to an American mother - and notice that's a big IF - it is the only connection he has to America. Factual proof of his place of birth has not yet been made public. In fact, those records have been sealed. Why? Another unanswered question surrounds the origins of the financial means by which he attended "Ivy League" universities ... but, again, those records have been sealed. Why?

(Nonetheless, the man is still an idiot, whose Pollyanna-like outlook on the world will be the destruction of our great nation.)

The Third Time IS A Charm!

Well, my most recent round trip to Utah has come to a relatively mild conclusion. During the last month I managed to put 2,855 miles on my Honda VTX. About 1,738 miles of that was getting to and from, and the other 1,117 was logged just cruising around Davis and Weber counties with my bro and BFF, Steve Farver. Steve’s lovely and talented wife, Kat, even performed a magnificent impromptu concert for us while I was there, although she was suffering a cold at the time. I did get to spend some time with three-fourths of my children and my grandchildren, most of whom were in wonderful Australia for 3 weeks visiting my son-in-laws people. My eldest son, Gene, and my youngest son, Kevin were there, but conflicting work schedules made visiting difficult. My youngest, Katy, was noticeably – but not unexpectedly – incommunicado during my stay. I keep hoping that on one of her 20-something birthdays she’ll actually grow up! But, that’s her problem …

The ride over was beautiful, but a bit warm on the deserts of Nevada and Utah. I always overnight in Winnemucca, Nevada in both directions, and on the way to Utah I met an interesting man from Finland, who loved motorcycles. We spent several hours talking about motorcycles we had each owned before I had to bring it to an end, so I could get some rest before my departure for the final leg in the morning. Bedtime came early that night – 8:30pm. And, getting-up-time came unexpectedly early at 3:15am! By 3:30 I was on I-80 eastbound, and wondering how that hot desert country could be so cold in the wee hours. I estimated the temperature to be about 40º, and stopped probably ten times to warm myself up before 8:00am. When I reached Utah I learned about ‘interpolation’. That's when the sign says “SPEED LIMIT 70”, and that’s only a suggestion. If you’re only doing 70mph you’re relegated to the right-hand lane … with everybody honking at you, shaking their mailed fist at you, and talking about yomomma (no, that is not a reference to Barack). The number 70, in Utah, translates to roughly 85. I discovered this phenomenon again at the intersection of I-80 and I-15, where traffic was just whizzing along, bumper-to-bumper, 4 lanes wide, at 85mph. At this point, realizing that I was astride the smallest thing on the highway was just a bit disconcerting, after 800+ miles of virtually no traffic .

I took some pictures while there, including one of my bro, Steve, cruising down the causeway that runs to - and back from - Antelope Island on his Yamaha V-Max at 65mph … I know he was doing 65 because I checked the speedometer on my bike as I took the pic (I think I’ll post some of those pics when I get my camera back ... I forgot it when I left my daughters house on my return trip).

The return trip was also relatively uneventful. There was the road construction on US 95 northbound, about 35 miles north of Winnemucca, Nevada, where I got to sit for about 15 minutes. The most interesting part of that stop was when the woman driving the NDOT Pilot Truck brought traffic from the other end of the construction zone, then swung around, backed up, and dropped the rear of the truck into a gravel filled ditch. After watching her spend about 6 minutes burying the front of the rear axle in the rear of the gravel hump, I told the lady flagging that I was going to move up and give her a clue, because she obviously didn't have one. The suggestion was: “Back straight up into the sagebrush, turn to the right, and come out about 15 feet to the right, where the surface is relatively flat and solid.” She did that and, shortly thereafter, we were off to the other end of the construction zone.

My first animal encounter was with a desert jackrabbit that galloped across US 95 just ahead of me. I considered us both to be lucky. Then there was the bird that apparently had failed physics in flight school, and didn’t realize that my rate of closure at 70mph was 102.6667 feet per second. Luckily for him, he swerved at just the right moment. My next, and final, animal confrontation was with a cow and her calf, standing in the middle of US 95, just kinda hanging out about 40 miles east of Adel, Oregon (population 79). I had to come to a complete stop until she made up her mind which direction they were eventually going to move.

Then there was the 40 miles of Mixed Donkey Doodoo Dodging (it was wild burro poop, but I couldn’t come up with a scatologically referenced alliteration to work with the word “burro”). Actually, it looked as if Billy-Jim-Bob had held a cattle drive along the two-lane road the recent past, so I nicknamed it the “Cow Pie Highway”. With almost-constant swerving, I managed to avoid the fresher specimens, but occasionally I clipped a dry, dusty dung dollop.

Then, outside of Klamath Falls, Oregon, I once again entered the fearsome Valley of The Ten Thousand Grasshoppers! Undaunted, I pushed on, and, much to my relief, there was no horde of large, airborne insects this time. I hit maybe two of them – one became a windshield decoration, and the other a splat on the side of my boot.

Other than 4 more delays for road repairs along OR 95 and OR 140, nothing particularly noteworthy occurred on my return trip. I spent ten hours on the bike that last day of my trip, and required a transplant of the gluteus maximus when it ended. I felt as if I had just been released from a lengthy stint in a Greek prison! I am now seriously contemplating the insertion of a hospital-grade gel pad … under the cover of my bike’s saddle.
